The centre remains open on storm days when district schools are closed. If a storm is severe, we reserve the right to open
later in the morning and close earlier in the day.
Enrollment Policy
A parent or guardian must bring the child to the centre
for a short visit before s/he attends regularly. This gives the child and parent the opportunity to become familiar
with the centre and meet the staff and other children in the class. A non-refundable registration fee is due upon enrollment.
Personal Belongings
When your child arrives at the centre for the first
time, s/he will be assigned a cubby where personal belongings are stored. Children under four years old will be assigned
a cot for rest period.
Fees and Conditions for Payment
Fees are set
in accordance with the ongoing cost of operation and payment can be made by cash or cheque. Please note that fees
are due and payable a week in advance for the space booked whether the child attends or not. Income tax
receipts are issued at the end of the year.
Day Care Assistance Program
The Day Care Assistance Program is designed to help your family access financially affordable, quality child
care at a licensed child day care facility.
If you are working, attending school, or undergoing medical treatment,
you may be eligible. For more information visit the provincial website at www.gnb.ca (keyword, childcare) or contact
the local office at 1-866-441-4246
Parent Involvement
At JUST KIDS we believe
in an open door policy to parents. Please feel free to come to the centre at any time to visit your child. We
welcome your comments and suggestions with the understanding that you know your child best.
Although we realize that
parents lead a busy life, we appreciate your participation in events that occur throughout the year. This may take the
form of parent meetings or other activities such as parades, fundraising or Day Care Week.
NUTRITION
Menus
Our menus are prepared four weeks in advance and parents are welcome
to a copy. Menus are planned in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating and we try to serve foods
which children enjoy while at the same time introducing and encouraging children to try new foods. We serve a snack
in the morning and afternoon and a hot meal at lunch. Wednesday is box lunch day and children love to bring their
lunch from home. This is a prime opportunity to teach your child what goes into a nutritious lunch.
Allergy Alert
It is vitally important that the centre be informed of any allergies your
child may have. If the child’s diet is greatly restricted due to allergies, the child may be required to
bring certain foods from home.
Birthdays and Holiday Parties
We celebrate
birthdays during afternoon snack. Only food’s that have been prepared in an approved facility and meet with Public
Health Standards will be served. (Bakery or Supermarket)
Guidance Techniques
Appropriate guidance techniques provide an emotionally secure environment for children. The only form of discipline
we use is “Time Out” and “One, Two, Three, Magic.” At this point, the child is removed
from the group for a short period of time where s/he is able to see the group but cannot participate until s/he has calmed
down. We view discipline as a teaching opportunity that will encourage growth and responsibility in the child.
