Infant Care ( 6 weeks - 15 months)
INFANT CARE
From the moment your baby arrives for his/her visit
he will be greeted by a qualified nurturing caregiver whose primary role is to provide the one-on-one attention that is so
essential to this age group. Babies learn about the world through their senses and they are constantly exploring and discovering
new things.
THE ENVIRONMENT
Our Nursery room is a bright, warm
inviting space for babies to explore and grow. A large, soft, tunnel climber
is ideal for babies to climb on or crawl through and a coordinating mirror and railing challenge beginning
walkers to pull themselves up to look in the mirror. There are lots of soft books, cushions, balls, soft blocks, large knob
puzzles and numerous age appropriate toys. Mats are placed throughout the room providing a soft surface
where you baby can crawl and explore the environment. The baby’s outdoor play area is separate from the main playground. It has a large
covered sandbox with lots of toys and gross motor equipment. Caregivers are always there
with open arms and warm hugs to provide love and security, which develop trust and confidence.
NAP TIME
The Nursery has it’s own separate nap room adjacent to the play
room. It is equipped with rocking chairs and playpens which provide a quiet safe place for baby to rest.
Your baby will be assigned his own sleep area where his caregiver will check on him
every fifteen minutes during nap time. We also use a baby monitor to ensure that we are aware of baby’s sleep activity
at all times.
ROUTINES
When your baby is enrolled, we ask
parents to supply a schedule of his daily routine. This will include feeding and nap times and any other
significant need which your baby requires throughout the day. We will strive to follow
the same routine which has been set up at home.
DAILY REPORT
It is important to maintain a close communication between the centre and parents. Staff are always
happy to tell you about your baby’s day and in addition, a communication notebook is kept in each child’s locker
to report the events of the day.
